Veterans in crisis now have a shorter, easier-to-remember approach to obtain support as soon as possible by dialing 988 and pressing 1.To make a difference in a Veteran's life, you don't have to be an expert. The word can be disseminated by anyone. Make sure every Veteran in your life knows this new number to start.Talk with any veterans in your life.Inform them about the new Veterans Crisis Line number, 988, and advise them to save it to their phones. Remind them that in order to contact the Veterans Crisis Line after dialing, Veterans must press 1.Inform your family members as well. You can never predict when a crisis may occur. Make sure you are ready, as well as the people you care about.Share the updated number on social media.Share the new number on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram if you remain in touch with other Veterans through social media. To raise awareness, we are making sample posts and visuals available.Never feel alone. Day and night, responders to the Veterans Crisis Line take calls. They pay attention to you and watch out for your safety. Both texting (838255) and online chat (https://lnkd.in/gVMhtDWH) are alternatives as well.On VeteransCrisisLine.net, you can access digital resources, such as data sheets and visuals that can be downloaded and used to spread the word about the Veterans Crisis Line. The Veterans Crisis Line has a new number, but assistance is still available. Furthermore, connecting does not require you to be a recipient of VA benefits or health care. Call 988 then press 1 to place a call. Text 838255 to chat online at https://lnkd.in/gVMhtDWH. #veterans #healthcare

The Defence Families of Australia (DFA) have pulled together a great one-pager, although it does (to me) highlight that perceived 'snap' over from SERCAT 7, full-time member to discharged, former-member. It would be great to see some policy development that considers 'transition' as a longer-term event, that will likely (and hopefully for the sake defence capability) span over a number of years.SERCAT 5 (part-time) members have been heavily relied on over recent years, but in currently policy settings, don't fit neatly into either bucket of 'current' or 'former' serving. One policy update I'd love to see? Allow eligible SERCAT 5 members to contribute to their own money to their existing Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation Military Super Benefits Scheme (Ancillary Benefit).

📣 PACT ACT… STOP and READ DEADLINE APPROACHING!!The most extensive veteran’s benefits compensation is available… so many of our veterans are missing out. Why? Because of MISINFORMATION! 1. If you have served since the Vietnam Era until NOW… you may be eligible for benefits from the Dept Of Veteran Affairs 2. What benefits? Health-related care is based on your exposure to your service. 3. Why is this important? Cancer is higher in our demographic. Other ailments and diseases that you can be treated for… And these benefits can be passed on to your family. 4. You don’t necessarily have to have been deployed to be eligible. 5. If you were denied before… GO BACK and file a claim NOW and be seen again… conditions have changed. 6. TIME IS RUNNING OUT TO FILE!! August 9, 2023. Share this with your network. Encourage the veterans in your network to enroll and FILE! Where do you go? www.va.gov/PACTYou served; now let the organizations who are responsible for taking care of you… earn your trust, do right by you, and care for you.
