The FAR Center for Contemporary Arts seeks Hispanic-identifying artists in the Bloomington area whose artwork explores the possibilities of digital connection, self-expression, voice, action, and creativity that the Internet provides. What role does digital culture and the Internet play in the creation of your identity, worldview, and awareness of others? Submissions to Repost should incorporate some aspect of online digital culture, hardware, or software. Artists will be invited to participate in a panel on Latine Art in October to be held in conjunction with the Eskenazi School.Artists may send submissions by filling out a form at bit.ly/repost-submissions or scanning the QR code in this graphic. 2D and 3D pieces are preferred. Submissions are due August 23.

Over the summer, Eskenazi’s interior design program partnered with Bloomington design-build firm Loren Wood Builders to develop hands-on educational modules. Built from discarded materials, the wall systems will enable students to manipulate and build with real-world materials using diverse construction practices. An exhibition of watercolor paintings by current Eskenazi MFA painter Andreea Alunei opens with a reception this Friday, August 2 from 6-8 pm at the FS Fountain Gallery on the lower level of Fountain Square, 101 West Kirkwood in Bloomington.A Romanian-born multimedia artist who previously earned a master's degree in social psychology from Texas A&M University, Alunei uses the "notoriously unruly" medium of watercolor "to exercise relinquishing control and finding acceptance in a complicated ambiguous, and often challenging world." Each of the watercolor portraits in her series "Mindscapes," Alunei explains, is a piece of an expanded self-portrait. Visit the artist's website at www.andreea-alunei.com

Third-year MFA photographer Leni Wiegand has been named by LENSCRATCH magazine as one of the top 25 photo students in the US to watch. In their photos, Wiegand "databends" the binary code of the files, resulting in glitching that serves as a visual correlative to the struggles of living as a nonbinary person in a binary world. Wiegand is the fifth Eskenazi photo student in five years to be recognized by Lenscratch's student prize awards. (Pictured: From the series, "The Whole Preposterous Ideology" by Leni Wiegand.)
